It was about 5:15 pm. I was rocking my 7 month old, Caden, and browsing things on Pinterest on my phone. 
My phone rang, and saw that it was Melanie Russell. I answered with a happy "Hello!" and I heard her voice on the other end. "Tryston?..." in a tone that made me think someone had died. She quickly explained that Cari, one of her birth clients, was in labor in Conway and was at a complete. "She's already at a 10... in Conway?" 
"Yes, and I'm at a wedding on Nebo and can't leave."

As she was telling me a little more information I was dumping Caden into my husband's arms and pulling on jeans. I thought, there is absolutely no way I can get there in time. She had gone from 3cm to 10cm in about an hour and a half (really uncommon for a first birth). There was just no way. 

I grabbed my camera and keys and flew down the interstate. I managed to get front-row parking (which is unheard of at Conway Regional) and literally sprinted into the building. Apparently Cari had been ready to push for a while but another lady was delivering next door and was even closer. The doctor on-call made Cari wait until he had delivered the other baby and had just started with Cari when I entered the room, took my place behind her head, and (not kidding) 30 seconds later we heard sweet little Audrey's first cry. I took all the pictures of Audrey's first moments and was still snapping away when I called Melanie and said "You're not going to believe this.. but we made it." She had been driving (much faster than I was I think) with her left foot on her bible and her right on the gas pedal trying to get there. We agreed that God must've wanted us to be there since it was a near miracle that everything worked out. 

Audrey was born at 5:46 weighing 7 lbs 13oz and measuring 20 inches long. These are the images I took before Melanie got there to take over with the nursery images. Enjoy!
