The shoot that almost didn't happen. Makynzie and Ava are two of my babies (client babies) that are on the same 3 month milestone timeline. Ava was going to be 9 months and Makynzie was going to be 6 months so their mommies wanted to do a combined shoot for a more unique, fun look. I was excited, it was going to be vintage bathing suits and floppy hats and babies. What could be better?

We planned. We picked a location. The location was kind of burnt up so we hiked. A lot. We hiked up and down STEEP hills, through private property (on accident of course), through cactus booby traps, through gravel and fields and sand, and A SNAKE. All this with two babies, two strollers, and and large quantity of props. Just for your information, strollers and sand don't mix. 

We got set up and Miss Makynzie, bless her heart, hadn't quite recovered from being sick and had multiple meltdowns. Ava just liked to eat sand. It was cold for the two babies with their custom made tiny vintage bikinis (not so much for the mommies who had just done olympic style hiking). We tried for an hour. 

We rescheduled. 

We hiked back. 

We arranged the second time to be during sunrise instead of sunset so the babies would be a little happier. I'm glad only Ashley and Shannon saw me because I looked anything but happy (not a morning person) but I was bribed with coffee and donuts and let's face it, I'll get up at just about any hour for donuts. Another hour and a half later and we finally had a number that I was happy with :) 
In the end, all I care about is that my clients love their pictures. Sometimes that means going the extra mile, or 3. 

Thank you ladies for sticking it out with me and going with all my crazy ideas, helping me dump dry sand onto the wet sand area, not having heart attacks after the snake incident, and most importantly: for the coffee and donuts. I hope you enjoy these pictures, and I'm so glad that despite it all we got some pretty special ones from both times :)
