Amelia was born on March 7th at 3:34 pm. The text message came in the night before at 11pm that she was being admitted to the hospital and was dilated to a 3. She wasn't due for another week and a half, but it seemed like she wanted to come on out and meet her parents, big brother, and big sister. Her big sis was SUPER excited to meet her and start loving on her. Garth, Jessica, and I kept in contact throughout the night and around 7:30 am her water was broken but there hadn't been any dilation progress. Jessica had been on pitocin without an epidural and was toughing it out! At 12:45 she was at a 7 and around 3:15 they had her do just a couple test pushes before telling her to stop! Dr. Nelson got there as fast as he could and got set up in time to help ease Amelia on out with only about two pushes.
Jessica, you were amazing and you handled that labor without an epidural like a champion. Pitocin is no joke. Childress family, thank you for letting me document the birth of another one of your children. It's such an honor to be there when parents get to see their little ones for the first time. Thank you for sharing that with me!
